SUMMARY OF SOME PAST ASSIGNMENTS
Leisure Sector, Merseyside (ca £10m revenues)
I worked for ca 6 months with the business owner (ca £10m revenues) on a pre-defined list of objectives – to restructure the management team including the recruitment of a new key member this team, streamlined the purchasing process, brought clarity to the HR function and to the communication between the external HR advisers and the operational managers within the business.
Technology Manufacturing Company, Lancashire (ca £4m revenues)
Here I worked with the business owner on several key tasks for a 4 month period – including restructuring the sales operation for Germany, increasing the marketing for Germany & Switzerland and putting in a more permanent solution to handle activities in the German-speaking area.
Industrial Products, Leeds (ca £6m revenues)
My main brief in the 6 month period was to restructure the sales and marketing operations to cope better with non-UK enquiries. This included reviewing and making changes to the then current routes to market, recruitment of a sales manager with technical and German language capabilities, adapting the company’s technical and marketing literature to appeal more to the non-UK reader.
Sale of recycling company, South of England (ca £4m revenues)
Here, in a 5 month assignment, I assisted the owner to dispose of his business to a non-UK buyer. Dissatisfied with the range of offers from potential UK buyers obtained from his professional advisers, I helped obtain a considerably higher offer from an Austrian buyer. My further involvement was a two month intensive period with the new owners assisting them in integrating the UK business into their European-wide operations, dealing with communication, cultural and commercial issues.
